I need a summer job but I'm 14, plz help?
Ok here's my problem:
I've been taking tumbling lessons for over a year and almost have my roundoff back handspring down by myself, but now mymom says she wants me to quit tumbling lessons because they're "expensive". Well, I want to try out for varsity cheerleading my sophmore year so I really need this back handspring. but the only way I can get it is if I continue my tumbling lessons. But the only way I do tht is if I pay for it myself; this is why I need to get a job. Only problem is I'm 14. Any ideas on what job I could get at age 14 that'll cover a $45 a month tumbling class?
*dont say lawn mowing or babysitting please.*

If you go to marina, there's this place you have to attend in the summer. there is no work. just fun and you earn $250. |

When you're 14, your options are very limited. Someone who doesn't know you, would have serious reservations about hiring you on account of your age, when there's so many people older and more experienced looking for jobs. Your best bet would be asking your parents, your friends, older brothers and sisters (if you have any) if they know anyone you could do some work for. Maybe they have a bunch of documents they need to shred, or dogs that need to get walked or windows that need to be cleaned. Maybe your parents belong to some kind of club, or church or something like that you could do work for. Now I'm gonna tell you right now, someone your parents know could use a babysitter at least once in a while, but if you don't want to do that, it's okay. Regardless, you'll need someone to vouch for you since you're only 14 and I'd venture a guess and say 90% of the jobs people your age get, they get through a friend or family member. Figure out what it is you can help people with, and use your friends and family to find a need and do it. I'll tell you right now, 10 years ago when I was in your shoes, i did the same thing and it worked beautifully. |
