I left my job in NJ; am I eligible for unemployment?

Category: Other

My husband took a job (advancement) with his company in another state. I had to leave my job to relocate with my husband/family; the company I worked for does not have any office near where I live now. Am I eligible for unemployment from NJ?

NJ, unlike many states, doesn't appear to give UI benefits if you move to be with your husband, unless your husband is in the military.

"ARE YOU UNEMPLOYED THROUGH NO FAULT OF

YOUR OWN?

Unemployment benefits can be paid to you only if you are unemployed

through no fault of your own. Therefore, the next step in the process

is to check the reason you are not working. This information is

provided by you and your former employer. If any of the following

conditions applies to you, you may be disqualified from benefits,

either indefinitely or for a set period of time:

* If you voluntarily quit your job without good cause connected

with the work, or if you voluntarily chose to retire, you may

be indefinitely disqualified from benefits."

However, there is no harm in trying, right? File and see what they say.

No, you are not eligible. If you quit work to relocate you cannot collect unemployment.
