I live in Maryland and it has been really difficult for me to find a full time job. I've tries applying through craigslist, careerbuilder, monster jobs, washington post jobs. I've even tried to hook up with temp agencies. I had a temp to perm assignment with an agency, but they released me after two freaking weeks! I just don't know what to do and the experience has been completly disheartning? Does anybody have any suggestions? I just don't know what to do...

Maybe try working part-time jobs to gain experience? Sometimes you need to take part-time jobs and it'll look better than not working for a long period of time. It won't be as much money as a full-time, but it's some money and it may lead to a full-time position.

If you want anything more than general advice, then you will need to tell us what your skills and qualifications are, also your age, location, and what you like doing best (that could possibly lead to employment).

Voluntary work is always a good move if you cannot find paid work, as it reads well on your CV, when you apply for paid work next time.

I was made redundant TWICE recently, and found all the agencies next to useless. What worked for me in the end was contacts kept from previous jobs, as well as chasing up ALL leads for jobs in the local newspaper. I now have something just 10 minutes from my home, by bicycle!

An extra irony, is that I cycle past my last place of work every day - which makes me smile!

Good luck to you! If I can find work past the age of 50, I am sure that you will prevail.
