So i have an interview for a sales position at a office store. this is my first "real" interview so i want to know what kind of questions i should expect, and how i can stay calm and not get nervous. i already know what kind of clothes to wear and other stuff just want to know what to expect.

thanks!

I have had a few big interviews recently as well so I am going through the same thing.

1. To stay calm- arrive EARLY. Get there at least 20 mins before and just chill in your car or at a cafe or something nearby to relax.

2. They are going to ask you why they should hire you and not the other candidates. "I am a nice guy and work hard" is not enough. For sales, its good to tell them that you are good at listening to people and understand that sales is about meeting a customers needs and not just pushing for the sale. You are a good problem solver and enjoy helping people solve problems. This translates to sales.

3. Probably the most important thing I would say is that you should listen patiently to the interviewer to speak and then respond. Keep your answers short 30 seconds at most.

4. SMILE!! Act like you are happy to be there. I usually try and get the interviewer to smile at the beginning by commenting on something they can relate to (the weather, the commute getting to their office, something on their desk) Getting them to smile or laugh at the beginning will help to put you at ease.

5. You are going to do great! Remember that. The interviewer is probably just as nervous or more so then you are. If it doesn't work out than its good practice and you can move on.

GOOD LUCK!

Questions they would ask you, What do you know about our company? (Google the company and research key points), Why should we hire you? (Talk about your strengths and what can you bring to the position), and Do you have any references? (Make sure that if you do, they are reliable).

After you had the interview, get their business card so you can call them regarding the hiring process after a week and also send them a thank you note after the interview.

Good luck

Might ask what your strengths and weaknesses are... say your strengths are your a team player, your a hard worker, blah blah. And for your weakness say your a perfectionist which can be tedious at times lol. You never want to be serious about your weaknesses (it will only be used against you).

Make sure you show interest, and smile and be polite and force yourself to be perky, upbeat (since its a sales position). If they ask you if you have any questions for them and you don't, dont just say no, say no I don't you did a good job explaining everything I needed to know.

And at the end say I hope you consider me for the position because I'm very interested in working here and I think this company could benefit from my hard work.
