I feel I am at risk of redundancy but without the rewards?
My employer has recently introduced a new structure for a 'higher' management level (compared to the one that my colleagues and I am on) and has invited me and my management colleagues to apply for these roles. However they are saying that because this is a higher level of management than the one we are currently on that we are not at risk of redundancy, and they have also advertised the new roles internally so that anyone in the company can apply for these roles (i.e. we have no priority). My problem is that it is blatantly obvious from the new structure they are introducing that my existing role will disappear. However there has not yet been any consultation process or mention of redundancy. I expect that once the new roles have been filled then the next level of management down will be designed and at this point we will be asked to go through the consultation process. Additionally, it would appear that this new 'higher' level of management is paid LESS than what I am currently being paid so how can this be a promotion? Also, these new 'higher' roles are much bigger in scope than the ones currently being fulfilled. Can my employer do all this without starting redundancy proceedings?
