So far I'm not getting called back! My resume is good and has been looked over, my hours are flexible and I'm an all around hard worker. A lot of the applications were submitted online and so far I haven't gotten a call back from anyone!! My dad says I need to call and bug these people...is that what I have to do to get a job??

I am in the same boat! I have not had a job in two years! I call and follow up, at least sometimes this gets me an answer even though it has been the vague run of the mill we will call you stuff. Here are things I am startig to do.

I also send in a paper resume or go fill out an application just to make sure they see my name often.

I have started sending in reumes in colorful envelopes so it attracts the attention of whomever is opening it, some jobs get millions of plain white envelopes, I once sent mine in a silver envelope, what did I have to lose?

If you know the persons name , ask for them directly.

Send follow up e-mails, and notes letting them know you are still interested in any postion they may have with the company, I got hired a year ago one place and couldn't take the job, she just called me this week because I kept her updated i was looking

Do you know any ppl who work at this place, ask them to inquire with so ans so about your application.

Its tough, just keep lifted and be inventive, good luck!

I wish employer realize this is a ression and we need jobs IMMEDIATLY!

Online applications are a waste of time.

You are competting against people that KNOW how to get a job.

They ask for an application in person and fill it out in the spot.

When they are finished they ask for the manager and shake his/her hand and sell themselves in 2 minutes.

Dress well - no jeans.

You must go in person.... That is the secret to landing a job.

It is good to call a couple days after you have applied. Just say you are checking to see if a completed application was submitted and when interviews will begin.

Wait a few days after you turned in your resume. Then call and ask if they had a chance to look over your resume. I haven't ever tried it, but if I've been told to do it. If you call them, it shows that you really want the job.
