How to you put stay at home mom on a resume?

So i turned my application and resume in for a job and put all my work history. well 2 1/2 years ago my daughter was born and i've been staying home then 9 months ago i had my son. since my daughter was born i've been doing side work up until about a month ago and now i'm looking for full time.
i didn't put that i stayed at home with my kids except in one part when i left my past full time job i indicated i left when i was expecting my first child.
did i hurt my chances and how do i fix this for the future?
