How to start a career as a sniffer dog handler?

I am an Australian high school student in year 12. I love animals, dogs especially and would like a career as a sniffer dog handler/ trainer. I have looked into being a police dog handler, but do not think I would be suited to the type of work that is associated with being a cop. However, I am interested in being a handler for the airport sniffer dogs, but am unsure as to where to get information on this job, or what i would need to do. Any help would be much appreciated. I'm in Queensland if that helps and would prefer not to move out of the state.
I have been training our pet dogs/ other peoples dogs since I was 10 yrs old, and have currently got a 1 yr old border collie and 3 month old maremma that I have just started training.

You can't do this if you are unwilling to be a cop. The airport dogs are all handled by cops as well, otherwise the handler can't do anything about anything the dog finds. |
