How to not giggle through an interview?
I have an interview today for a production job at Stryker Instruments -medical tool factory-... I'm really nervous! I had a phone interview with a woman through the temp service I'm working with. She was so easy to talk to, yet I was still so nervous.
She called me back and set me up for an interview with the actual company today, she warned me about giggling. I understood completely! I just don't know how to control it, it's my nerves. I have anxiety, so it's really hard for me to control nervous reactions when under pressure.
Any advice? 10 pts to best advice!

This is hard. In the future you might want to take a speech class at a local CC to help. For now, you need to practice in front of someone. YOu also need to really really work at paying attention during the interview so you are focused & concentrating & less likely to giggle. After a question do not speak, take a breath & think of your answer then reply slowly & focused. When you rush you blurt out & giggle. If you feel the need to giggle coming on; smile, breathe & clench your fist out of sight & focus on NOT giggling. The same for an awkward pause--just STOP talking--do not try & fill up the space with ummmm, huhhhh, giggle, you know.. etc. Think of the answer! Do not try and then add things on if you think you need to say more--that also leads to blurting & sounds not real words. Good luck |

We all have our nervous habits that we do. I'd say the best way to go in it is with "having your eye on the prize" so to say. Go into the interview knowing you are the person for the job. Hard to suppress giggling though...Never had that problem so it's hard for me to give advice. |
