How to get local job as roughneck (Oilfield Worker)?

I live in Bakersfield California and would like to have a summer job as a roughneck in the area before i have to start school at CSUB in the fall... how do i go about getting the job?

Look, if you don't have any experience, and you don't know anyone in the field, you are not going to get hired for the summer. You could pay them $20/hr for the first couple of months of working for them and they would still lose money. It takes too long to train you and for you to gain the experience to be worth hiring. Try for a job around the driller's office at first, then see if they'd be willing to put you out in the field next summer.
