How to get first job at 16?

I'm 16 and have been trying to get my first job. I don't know anyone who could help me and How should I go about doing this? Any advice or have you been in the same predicament as me?

To find jobs:

- Ask friends who are already working if they know of any openings in their place of employment

- Keep an eye on the local classifieds

- Keep an eye out when going around town for "we're hiring" signs

- Search online sites like monster.com (that's how I found a job in high school)

To get a job, try to involve yourself in a lot of activities in school/volunteer work so you show your dedication/hard-working nature or whatever. Also, consider things like babysitting for neighbors, mowing lawns -- those are generally easier to get, and they build up your resume.
