How to convey interest of a particular industry in a cover letter?

I am attempting to move from 7 years in hospitality to Administration in a legal environment. In the job ad it says to address your genuine interest in the legal field in the cover letter (which I do have). Having not used extensive written language in my career for 7 years, I am finding it difficult to convey this in writing. Any pointers?

HI, there is no need to panic about this all you need to do is think logically about it all.

You say you have a genuine interest in it anyway right? well then you are half way there.

All they are looking for you to put down is something along the lines of

' I have always had a genuine interest within the legal field and have always wanted to pursue a career in this field.'

So this sort of thing is good and gives them an idea of whether have the drive, passion and enthusiasm behind you to do the job well. You can also bring up any relevant points or skills that you have learnt from the hospitality trade which could be useful in this job.

For example if you are going to be dealing with clients then you can say 'i have good customer service skills'

They are not looking for you to write a full blown essay about your life story just little bits like this helps to give them an idea of the type of person you are and the type of things you are good at.

Hope this helps you.

Good luck!
