How to ask for a review/raise?
My 2 year anniversary at my job was 4/18/10.
I got my one year review in July which was close to 3 months past my 1 year anniversary. My review was great, I had nothing that they would like me to work on. I was told that I was not going to receive a raise because of the economy, which I glady accepted, I would rather have a job.
Well anyway, a year has past an our company has seemed to have gotten through the "hard phase". Everyone who was laid off now has their jobs back and the company has actually been able to make some large purchases on equipment and pay off debt.
I feel as if I have put in two years of dedication and hard work into my job and that I deserve at least a $1 raise if not more.
How do I properly go about asking for a review? Or properly ask for a raise? I am really confused as to who my "supervisor" is, I do not really have one. The owner of the company is pretty busy, would it be unprofessional to just email him and ask him when he gets a moment I would like to talk to him privately?
I am 21, and I have never had to ask anyone for a raise, they have just been given to me during my reviews. I work for a small company and I do not think reviews are normally given here. I have only had 3 jobs in my life time. I worked in high school at hardware store for 3 years, a bank for one year and now my current place of employment.
Thank you!
