How to Write a Resume?

I am looking for a summer job so I need to create a resume. My business teacher is going to help me with it but she asked me to write down ALL my strengths. Well all the examples of strengths that she gave me as ideas are opinions, ie. good communication. I am 15 years old so I don't know if I should include my elementary and middle school or not. Also, the job will most likely be a busboy at a restaurant so should I still include under previous work experience about that one yard work job my neighbor gave me three years ago? :/

The advice of your business teacher is very good. Writing your strengths and weaknesses can definitely help you make a good resume. However, it is important that you highlight the important things that are required for the job profile. You must mention the objective, educational background and previous work experience along with hobbies and any achievements so far.

It is absolutely fine to include your middle school information in your educational background section. Also, writing previous job experiences like the yard work can help too. You must remember to highlight the skills like communication and interpersonal skills, team player and ability to manage with tight work schedules. These are some of the things that are very important for a person working at a restaurant. Additionally, you can mention your capacity to work as team leader.

To make a good resume for this job, all you need to do is follow a good format and put your information in an impressive way. Start with your name, age and contact information like address, phone and email. After that mention your objective, educational background and work experience. After that, mention your co-curricular and hobbies. Lastly, provide some references if you have any.

Good Luck!

You probably don't have many "objective" strengths just yet, particularly if you're looking for restaurant work. Pretty much everything on a resume is pretty subjective anyway - it's all about how you spin it.

I would not add anything from a school that is not your current one. You want all your previous work experience, weeding out the least relevant things if you need the space. Because you are a student you'll probably want some clubs and activities on there as well. I'm guessing you don't have much relevant experience for a busboy position, but they won't really expect you to have any. So put as much as you can down and let your teacher help you sort it out and figure out how to describe your skills to show them to the best advantage.

Think about your resume this way: If you were an employer and you wanted to hire someone, what qualities would you want in that person? Now, you need to write your resume telling the employer what you can do for them.

They want to know ifyou'll show up..so do you have great attendance in school? Maybe you are a fast learner...maybe you're great in math....maybe you're honest and friendly. Hope this helps.
