How should i quit my job?

I just got a new job at a restaurant 2 months ago. I have never had such a horrible, unprofessional workplace and I have never hated a job so much in my life. The first couple weeks were ok, I was working alot (over 55 hours). One of my bosses threatened to fire me 2 weeks ago for absolutely no reason in front of the whole bar. I had to go and talk to the owner who hired me to get the unprofessional mess sorted out. My co workers are b***** and rude even though I am nothing but respectful to both them and my managers. I work really hard show up on time and get my work done but they keep giving me the crappy shifts and cutting back my hours (I only got one shift this week). The trouble is, I want to quit tomorrow, I just have a catch. I tried to get my shift covered 24 hrs ago so I wouldn't be causing them scheduling problems and I could leave quietly, but my manager didn't approve the other girl picking up my shift, so I'm still supposed to show up for a shift. Should I work the shift and then quit tomorrow, or should I just go in before my shift tomorrow and quit?

Putting in your two weeks notice would be a good idea, but if you hate it that much and can't stick it out say screw you guys Im going home!!!!!

If you think the manager didn't approve the switch in spite, quit just before your shift. Maybe they'll learn to be better managers.

If you were being treated half way decent I would give two weeks written notice. But, getting no breaks or lunch I would report the employer to the Dept. of Labor send a written notice that you are quitting to the owner of the business and why your quitting (keep a copy for yourself). Then quit, work no more shifts! They'll have more respect for you for not tucking your tail and running, but speaking your mind and then leaving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This employer is getting away with the very poor work conditions because no one is reporting him. The employees are miserable, but may figure they are not worthy of another job and they are probably getting even with the employer in some way or another.

You have to stand up for yourself because no one is gonna do it for ya.

I'd say still take the high road and work the shift, then quit. Show that you at least have some professionalism even if the rest of the place is a mess.
