If you lost your job ( if you were fired) you will be eligible for unemployment as soon as you submit an application to the Unemployment Office and they're able to confirm that your employment was terminated. I don't know where you live, so I've used the term "Unemployment Office" as it applies to Universal Language.

On the other hand - If you left your employment because you didn't like your job anymore and you walked out, you might have to wait for 8 weeks to be eligible for Unemployment Benefits.

Why not forget about collecting Unemployment? It will never make you rich - get another job instead.

Every state has different laws/requirements for unemployment eligibility. The only way to know is to apply - which you should do ASAP. Once you apply the state will make a determination of eligibility based on wages over a set period of time, and the reason you left your job (quit, fired, laid off) and several other criteria that can be different depending on what state you are in..
