How long after i submit an application should i recieve a response?

So far i have applied to kroger online, and Mcdonalds in the store... i did Kroger yesterday and Mcdonalds today. How long do i have to wait if i am an eligable candidate for a response?

There are two situations that happen when you see job postings online:

1) They are actively seeking help. Meaning that once you put your application in a recruiter or hiring manger will contact you if your skills best fit the position(s) they are hiring for. It also depends on how fast they need the help. That brings me to my 2nd situation.

2) Some employers will post online to collect a pool of applicants should a future need arise to hire. For example, say an airline is fully staffed however suddenly someone transfers out or just quits, they already have a panel set up from an application pool to call from to set up interviews.

Be it that you applied for Kroger and McDonald's those are both high turnover jobs so you should get a call back soon if you don't give it a few days, then call. But when you do call don't ask for Human Resources. That is the biggest mistake people make when soliciting a job they go right for HR...what you need to ask for is the hiring manger for ______ (what ever position you applied for). If they direct you to HR that is fine.

I hope this helps you out some as I assist in hiring associates for my current job and past jobs.
