How do you answer 'Reason for leaving on a job application to a job that you still work at, but plan on leaving

If you still work there, instead of writing a reason for leaving just put the word "current" which implies that you are still currently working there. Almost any employer will understand this.

You don't have to be specific. Just put something like 'resigned for personal reasons" or something.

@Jennifer I was using personal reasons as a vague example. I never meant to imply that he should swear by it. The point I was trying to make was that he didn't have to get into specifics as to why he left or is leaving. He could put down virtually anything.

I agree that it is a good idea to put that you still work there. Since you are applying for the job, I am sure that most hiring managers will realize that you intend to quit your job later on. If you do decide to put something down, get creative. Maybe do something like looking for a more stable position in a challenging work environment.¯

I have to disagree with the first person who suggested putting down basically personal reasons. This is never a good idea but many people associate that phrase with something was wrong with you, you didnt like your boss, you didnt get along with your coworkers, and so forth.
