How do i find a good recruiter that would wanna work with me?

Category: Other

I had graduated last semester in Biology and I am having a hard time finding an entry level job on my field. I don't have much experience in the industry but I am a hardworking person and I am sure I am going to do well but seems noone is willing to give me a chance... people say i should work with a good recruiting company but I am not sure which one is a good one and most recruiters that have contacted me never follow up; i guess because they have so many other people. Anyways, does anyone know of a nice good recruiter in the bay area? I am almost losing hope and it frustrates me that i am not getting any income and i dont even know how i have survived so far with no job :( please any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Most recruiters probably aren't interested in working with you because recruiters rarely have entry level jobs.

When I graduated from college (1991), the economy was in the toilet and I couldn't find a job either. After searching for 9 months I finially started working with an outplacement firm. These are consulting firms that are typically hired by companies who are laying off employees and want to help their employees find new positions. They also normally don't work with new college grads but the guy I spoke with like me and my background so he took me on. He redid my resume, practiced interviewing techniques with me, taught me how to network, and gave me LOTS of contacts. For that I had to pay what seemed like a LOT of money (I can't remember exactly but between $500-1500).

It was one of the BEST decisions I have ever done. It gave me confidence that I still have today. I'm now a entrepreneur operating two companies, the first launched in 2005.

I suggest you look into an outplacement firm too. This is one of those "jobs" that people put up shingles for (meaning an out of work person puts up a sign that says they do this but they aren't really an expert), so be careful for who you select. Look for people who have been in the industry at least 10 years.

Also, the best way to find a job is via networking. Get a book from the library on how this is done.

Good Luck!!
