How do I go about getting a job when I've been unemployed the last 3 years?
I'm a 27 year old male and the last time I worked was between 2004-2007 buffing floors at a local nursing home. I'm not gonna get into the details of why I haven't worked the last three years, but regardless it's time for me to get back into the working world. My main concern though is how do I explain to a potential employer that I've been unemployed since 2007?
I'm really in a bad spot financially right now. Even if I could just get into some place like a Costco or BJs stocking shelves that would be a huge step in the right direction. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well, without knowing the real reason why you weren't working, tips to explain it to employers are going to be pointless. Usually it's best to use the truth. Volunteering may help you boost your resume while you look for a job to show you're active in the field. |

Tell them you were a full time student the past few years and you are now trying to pick up an extra job to pay off the school loans faster. i don't know, just a thought. |

Usually in your resume or on the job application prospective employers like you to account for major gaps of unemployment. If your reason for not working is acceptable you should just explain it as well as you can, and think of all the things you have done while being out of work that were productive. |
