How do I go about finding a job?

I'm 17, dropped out of high school and got my GED. All I do is sit around at home, my mom is telling me I need to find a job, but I have no idea how. Never worked before. How do I go about finding a job? My mom isn't any help.

You walk into a store or restaurant or whatever, and go up to the counter and say "Can I get an application, please?" They will either say "Yes" and give you one, or say "Sorry, we aren't hiring right now." If you get an application, just fill in the information (you can either do it at the time, or take it home to fill out and then bring it back). When you go back, say you are dropping off an application... it's also a good idea to ask to speak with an owner or manager and just say "I'm just dropping off my application and wanted to let you know that I'm really interested in working here and think I would be great at this." Then they know who you are and will remember you better than other applicants. Then you just sit around and wait for someone to call you for an interview. |

Go around looking for now hiring signs. ask for an application. fill it out and return it to the manager. or you can look online at like snagajob.com or something (although it always seems like those things never work, but i got ONE call back from there once haha). once u turn in the application, call back a week later and talk to the manager and ask if they are still hiring or the position is still available etc etc. you know whats great for young kids who havent had jobs before? PIZZA PLACES!!!!! i swear, all of my friends work or have worked at pizza places. look into it and good luck! |
