How do I find a job in an area infamous for its high unemployment?

Well I'm 19, attended a few interviews, made it to my 2nd interview in one instance and I've gotten nowhere, tried looking good, suit and tie all that wonderful stuff, clear and respectful language, attentive, caring and impressed all the employers with my willingness to work hard, but they never give me the position.

I hand out C.V's in pretty much every business you can imagine, I call places up, I arrange interviews, I send emails, but nothing.

I cannot drive so I can't work to far away, I'm broke, I'm waiting to go get an interview so I can start claiming job seekers allowance, I feel really disheartened and feel this isn't going to amend itself any time soon, what can I do?

Oh, and don't bother sending me answers saying "Get a job" it's not funny, witty or "right" because I am trying very hard.

There are a lot of factors why an applicant doesn't get the job and it always pays to study all possibilities. I was a past executive for an international courier company and I had different reasons for hiring/not hiring people.

Just to add a few to your checklist there:

- Did you have adequate knowledge about the company you applied with?

- Did you have adequate knowledge about the position you applied for?

- You mentioned about being respectful. Did you also appear confident yet not too overpowering?

- Did you maintain eye contact and have a strong handshake?

I included a website in the source which might help you get some answers and prepare you for your next upcoming interviews.

Good luck! But most importantly, don't give up!

One thing you can do is hassle your potential employer. I know it sound obnoxious but if you call them back like week after week it could do a lot for you. They will remember you- and sometimes if they dont hire you they know of another place that will. Just be persistent and dont give up... i know how shitty things are right now.
