How difficult is working as a cashier?
I'm 15 and I'm thinking of applying for a job as a cashier at Publix or Walmart over the summer but I have little to no experience with handling money or cash registers. I'm sure there will be some sort of training session they'll put me through, but how difficult can the actual process of working a cash register and memorizing where everything is be? Any helpful tips from veteran cashiers? Any experiences with certain customers, co-workers, or your boss that you'd like to share?
Thanks in advance.

It's not difficult, but it is stressful dealing with rude customers and narciccistic managers. For me, I didn't really have a "training session." It was moreso just one of the supervisors saying "here, I'm gonna teach you how to do register," and then she showed me the basics. From there I just got by from asking other cashiers until I picked it all up. I don't recommend this job, because you'll learn how b***hy some people can be, but it's good for a first job or a student who needs a flexible schedule. |
