How did my interview go?

I went in for an interview almost 2 weeks ago. They said they had quite a few candidates so it would be awhile to hear anything. They said I did a great job in my interview and I would hear from them in the near future. I sent a TY letter afterwards. I tried calling a few times to keep in touch but she never answers. So, today I emailed and within 3 hours she emailed be back and said they are still interviewing people (there are 5 spots to be filled) and if I have any other questions to contact her and she will know more by Friday. What is going on? Should I take this as a no-they know I have 4 weeks notice to give. I anxious and nervous and really just want to ask her " So, am I still in the running or what?" What would you think? She wouldn't get back with me if I didn't get it and tell me to contact her would she? Wouldn't she just say, "I'm sorry we found another candidate."

Try not to push it or make it worse than it is. You might received the position. Be patient! I think it was a smart idea for sending the thank-you letter. Since they have not filled all of the positions, I would give it another week to see if you hear anything back from them. I admit that two weeks is a pretty long wait. It sounds like it is an important/respected position. Of course, they didn't want to hire anybody in wrong hands. In a meantime, maybe you should consider to look for other job, just to be SAFE.

Don't harrass her or you will be out of the running for having no patience. She said she will know more on Friday, call her on Friday.

Four weeks notice?!?! WHY!

You should tell your current company that you will be happy to provide 2 weeks but nothing more. This is standard courtesy. I would bet that might be a reason for you not getting the job. If they have several very qualified candidates, why would they take someone that needs a month notice?

Tell your current company to go grow the grass! Don't jeopardize your future over a current company! Give TWO WEEKS AND NOTHING MORE!

Also if you pester them too much, this could ruin your chances. Do not bother her again! Be patient and forget about it for now. Because you could ruin it if you don't settle down. And in the meantime, if you do get a job offer, plan to give 2 weeks.

Myself I am of the opinion that letters are good, providing they are presented utilizing good syntax and spelling (always use a spill chucker!).
