How can i be sure to get a part time job this fall?

I am a college student (rising sophomore) to be exact. I am attending college in NYC and honestly i don't have much work experience. However I really want a part time job this year, especially since i only have classes three days a weeks this semester. Being that I don't have much job experience, what can i do to get hired? It seems like everyone wants people with experience these days. What are the best places to start?
