Okay, so I have my 3rd interview with a phone company next week and i just started going through the background check process today with a company called Hire Right. I have a REALLY clean record. BUTTTT on my resume, I did exaggerate big time about how long i worked at cerain jobs (4 an example, I worked at a job for 3 months and said a year). I also fibbed about the pay ( wrote 12.00 intstead of 10.00). Will this affect my chances of getting hired?? HELP please

It sounds like you might be applying for the same company that I work for now.

It could affect your chances, because to me it seems like HireRight does a pretty thorough background check. My background check was held up for several days because they were having a hard time confirming my internship, and this was just a three-month internship in the middle of my working career that was not at all related to the job for which I was applying. Apparently the phone number I gave them was not the correct one to use, so I had to supply them with another number.

You shouldn't "exaggerate" about how long you worked at places. That's the kind of stuff that former employers will have no qualms about confirming or denying.

Nope, though you probably won't get the job anyways so it doesn't really matter.
