Help in future career.?

Okay, so all my life I said to myself I would be a veterinarian when I grew up.

Now, I have my doubts about it. It's a lot of hard work, there's so much competition, and I'm terrible with anything science related. For the last couple of years I've become more interested in baking.

Should I stick with veterinary studies or go for a career in baking?

I want to take your opinions into consideration, thanks:)

P.S. I'm a senior in H.S.

Veterinarian is your best bet for money and 9 to 5 job.

Baking is not 9 to 5 for sure, and usually involves weekends. Holidays are high demand and you will lucky to be able to afford to take off. You are looking at weekend and early mornings as well. Unless you are extremely creative in new high end innovative new recipes and own your own bakery good luck at top dollar. Niches like diabetic friendly baking may be in high demand.

I love food and baking and worked with some top Blue Ribbon Chef's from Italy and it is a great experience. Most people don't understand top end food is like working in hell's kitchen. That is no joke. Hard work and competition is very much a part of baking professionally as well.

The best thing to do is expect hard work and competition in all vocations in life as the real world takes no prisoners.

I know the feeling of doubts and how hard work it would be! But you should be living YOUR life and decide what path you want to take! I absolutely hate science and math and I would never be able to be a doctor (even though I used to when I was younger ;)

I would say go with baking! You could even become a professional chef and be on Food Network, doing what you love!

Stick with whatever you feel will make you happy in your life!!

I have been in similar situations in my life many times. Follow what your heart says. If you want to choose baking over veterinary then choose it. Doing what you like is always joy than a compulsive ambition. Baking provides very good career opportunities. There are also many work from home jobs which are very rewarding in nature.
