I would say that depends on where you live and if you have a few family friends. Where I live, there is one place that will hire 14 and 15 year olds. But if you have a family friend that would pay you to work with them they could pay you a little as if you were helping them. go to teens4hire.com i believe, you can find some good ones on there. oh Legit is spelled with an e just so you know :)

There are limits on what kinds of jobs and duties a 14 year old can do, that depends on the state of residence. I'm in California, when I was 14 I couldn't get a job as a retail associate or fast food server. I did utilize the career and counseling center at my middle and then high school, to find work. They have the resources and knowledge to help you find work, even for minors under 16. I signed up for a summer work program and they found me a job at the local college doing light office work and filing. I did that for two consecutive summers.

If you don't have access to that, try your local grocery stores or bookstore (bagger, merchandiser). Maybe even at a restaurant (busser, dishwasher, server).

Good luck.

Even though it is legal for you to work, it will be very, VERY hard to find a job..... the seasonal/summer jobs were filled in March and April..........

that does not mean you can't try and in fact you should, apply everywhere and anywhere you can, the worse that can happen is you don't get hired.....

the legal age to be gainfully employed in EVERY state is 14, there are limits BUT you can legally be hired and work up to 40 hours a week while school is out of session........

Legally in the US under FLSA a minor 14 or older may work in an:

Office,

Grocery store,

Retail store,

Restaurant,

Movie Theater,

Baseball Park,

Amusement park, or

Gasoline service station

BUT...due to the high the unemployment rate at this time it is very difficult for minors to get a job.........the jobs that use to be held by teens and retirees are now being taken by adults trying to support their families.........

Fast-food and grocery stores are willing and able to train new employees but........................

Minors tend to have many issues that affect their ability to work such as tardiness, absenteeism, and numerous schedule requests, poor work-ethic etcetera.

I am NOT implying you will have those issues but the fact that many your age do makes it more difficult for you to get an opportunity to prove your worth.

Most businesses are individually owned and operated so it is the owners policy and past experience with minors that will determine if they will hire you. Apply everywhere you can, the worse that can happen is they don't hire you.

Businesses such as Publix, Kroger's, Food Lion, Sonic, Chic-Fill-A, McDonald's, Winn-Dixie, Krystal's, Dairy Queen, and Burger King along with smaller local businesses that are in the same genre tend to hire those your age.

Remember just because they legally can hire you does NOT mean they have to hire you or they will hire you. A lot depends on the employment outlook in your area, and the past luck (good or bad) the employer has had employing minors.
