I just read this article on Yahoo top page and I am so angry.
My husband has been out of work for quite a while now since the compnay he worked for numerous years lost the biggest account they were forced to lay off people including him. He's been looking for a job every day and it hurts me to see him feeling helpless.
My question is do you think (or anyone who's doing this) it would be a good idea for him to attach a cover letter explaining why he was laid off? Becuase it was definitely not because of his performance! He had and still has a great relationship with the company, I heard the president had tears in his eyes when he had to lay him off.

That would be a poor idea...his resume with the letter will be "filed"...never bring out any negative information in writing....hiring managers see gaps in resumes every day....and companies are hiring...he will just have to settle for less...and soon.. |
