My name is long, and my email server is too.

ariannahagen@rocketmail.com

so i made a new email address, to make it easier, using a common nickname

annahagen@gmail.com

is this a resume appropriate email address?

Good lord, folks need to flag these spam answerers.

To answer your question, "yes" is perfectly fine. Using a nickname that you commonly go by, like "anna" in place of "arianna", is fine.

What WOULD be inappropriate is if you used some stupid facebook or chat name as your email address... EG:

smileykitty@blah.com

mistyeyes@blah.com

broncobob@blah.com

tehleethaxor@blah.com

Don't laugh...I've seen folks use some pretty stupid email addys when applying for jobs, and that alone speaks volumes of a person's maturity and intellect. I mean, on the one hand, they're too stupid to use a professional email address with their name in it, and on the other hand, they're too stupid to kick off a quicky yahoo or gmail account to do their job searching, and on the other hand, they're too stupid to realize how immature it looks to email someone at "bigdaddy132@yahoo.com". Email address alone speaks volumes, and can be a huge deal breaker.

It's appropriate, however a potential employer may find it easier/more useful to use your full name when contacting you. You do want to stand out from other applicants! Good luck!

The cousin that may be offended (from a previous post), guess what? It's not about her!!

Hi paixnirvana,

Yes. That is an appropriate email address, however, it may cause confusion in the mind of the employer. Remember most employers receive an adequate number of responses for positions they have open. You don't want confusion when receiving a reply for an appointment for an interview or for an offer for employment. Some suggestions...

ariannahagen@gmail.com (is a reasonable length and is professional as it directly addresses you) 5 stars * * * * *

ariannah@gmail.com 3 stars* * *

ahagen@gmail.com 3 stars* * *

a.hagen@gmail.com 4 stars* * * *

a.hagen@aol.com (aol email is free too) 4 stars* * * *

The shortest email address I can think of that is totally professional too, is...

ariannahagen@aol.com (this email is free too) 5 stars * * * * *

Yes. If your email were something like "Pixiegurl15@..." then it would be bad. But a nickname like "Anna" is fine. It will also clue them in to how you like to be called.
