Does anyone have any tips on trying to apply for a job?

L have given up a bit of hope now :(

l have rang 16 agencies altogether asking if there's anything going and all of them said no, l have sent off over 20 CV's to different jobs including a town 5 miles away from me and l have not heard nothing. l have 2 GCSE's and l am also at college and l will be doing level 2 business this September so why is it so difficult?!

l've been down the Jobcentre for advice but they said l need to be 18 to be able to apply for jobseekers which l really don't want to because l want to work for my money. l need it badly and l am getting really frustrated because of it. :(

ls there anything else you think l should do? l've asked around my dad's work to see if they have anything going but they said no.

Thanks xx

You can go to the site below, and search the database of jobs yourself, that are at the JPS at this link:

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/employment/j¦

Here are few, (you can find hundreds more on the web), job sites to try.

Remember to tweak your CV to suit the exact type of work you are interested in.

I have tweaked mine in the experience, interests, and personality sections, so they relate to Hotel work, Security work, and Administration work. (Remember to give each one a file name that you can easily identify, so as not to attach or print off the wrong one.

Practice your answering of the awkward questions, so they do not catch you out at the interview, such as:

What are your best qualities? (Use your soft skills in the answer)

Have ever had to use your own initiative? (Have an example ready)

What are your worst qualities/faults? (Give an example - 'I used to find it hard to accept when outside influences delayed the progress of my work, but after talking to the people causing this, I realised the difficulties they were having, and why, now it is no problem')

Calling at companies and asking if any positions are going, proves your determination and commitment to getting a job.

Local papers usually have a 'jobs' night - always check them on that night.

Doing a volunteering job through the this site, is further proof of your determination to keep busy, to any future employer.

Good luck.

Try using job seeker websites like monster and careerbuilder. Don't be afraid to take a job that is a little beneath you. If you have fast food on your resumer, it can show how humble you are and how you are willing to work your way to the top. Not everyone starts out with a fantastic job

It's a sign of the times. Jobs are hard to come by and you need to keep trying. 20 CVs isn't many, look for advertised jobs and keep applying, but don't apply for jobs you know you won't get (e.g. when they want people with experience or those you're not qualified for). But beyond that, if the English you're using here is anything to go by, you need to check your CV and think about your speaking voice. English matters and employers won't hire people who can't speak or write properly.

Errors I spotted:

I have rang - should be I rang

CVs and GCSEs shouldn't have an apostrophe

I have not heard nothing - should be I have heard nothing

There are a couple of others but nothing too obvious.
