Do you become a 'Jack of All Trades' to please your clients?

Freelancing means having no job/income security. I wonder if it's alright to be an all-around help to my freelance clients just so they can keep me on their list and I can keep a job that can help pay the bills. The question is: Is it okay for me to charge a flat rate for any service they require so long as I can deliver the work?

That's perfectly fine, yes.

I personally wouldn't do it that way though. You might end up 'on the short end of the stick', so to speak. I wouldn't take on a really tough, labor intensive job for a flat rate.

I evaluate jobs on a case-by-case basis. If it's easy, I charge less. If it's going to be a major pain in the a.s.s., I charge more.
