Do employers do a background check right after you fill out application?

I took a test on 05/21/2010 and passed, filled out application and signed a consent for a background check. So far no one has called me yet, are they running a background check or is there usually a first interview with the Hiring Mgr? Today is June 1st, is there a chance they will call me or should I expect they don't want to move forward with me? I am still hoping they call since I passed the test and I have a good background.

Call and let them know you are still very interested, would be an asset to the company, and would like to know where you are in the application process. IF you can talk to the person doing the hiring that is even better. Good Luck! |

Job applications are usually tough - how should you fill them in? Should you chase them up when there is no answer?
