Do companies look at the most qualified candidate or do they try to be fair?

For example, a company may be posting an internship position that requires no experience. If somebody with 10 years experience apply, do companies embrace the person with experience, or do they try to be fair by going for young people with no experience?

"Fair" is choosing the most qualified candidate for the job -- "fair" is not about "giving someone their break".

You will always be going up against more experienced, more educated, more qualified people than yourself. The trick is to get them to see WHY they should hire YOU, and not the guy with 10 years experience.

Good luck.

What's "fair" about choosing someone who can't do the job as well as someone else?

The word "fair" does not mean everyone gets exactly the same thing at the same time, or that everyone gets exactly what they want when they want it. The word "fair" means that everyone gets what they deserve.
