Do I really need to give a weeks notice to a company I have only worked for 3 weeks for?

I took a job that was only ever intended for the short term. I was unemployed from Christmas and hated it, when I got offered a job in a call centre at minimum wage I took it, but today I got offered a new job, one I had applied for a while ago, but they want me to start on Monday.
The new job is more than double the salary, closer to home and more sociable hours.
Anyway, I was looking at my contract and it said I had to give a weeks notice to the call centre company, but during the first 4 weeks of employment they don't need to give me any notice.
Although I was told verbally that there was a 13 week probationary period in which I could leave at any time.
I really don't know what to do, I would prefer the new job, I mean more money, better hours and closer to home, plus its not a call centre which I hate working in, but I dintt want to get sued for not providing the correct notice.
