Do I punch in for an Interview at work?

Category: Other

I work as a cashier at a grocery store and I am applying for a higher position. I was supposed to come in at Noon on Monday for a register shift but they called me and asked me if I could come in early at 11:30 for an interview. I don't know if I should punch in early for my interview or not. A few months ago I had another interview for a position that I did not get. That other interview occurred during my normal register shift and I did get paid for it. I don't know if I should punch in early for this interview or not.

I'm in HR (20 years and fancy titles) and I really don't know the "correct" answer.

But if you don't clock in you know it's not "wrong". Where as if you clock in, it could cause trouble.

If they want to adjust your time they can.

GOOD LUCK.

No! It is not part of your shift: your shift starts at 12.00. You only got paid last time because it was part of your shift.

Maybe, since it is immediately before your shift.

.Punch in as requested. The company should pay you for your time. Or conduct their interviews during normal work hours

No it is best if you don't, you are not working during the interview.
