Could they fire me if i go on vacation?

At my work they are denying me unpaid vacation days because of the fact that next week, is the 4th of july. A week ago i told them i needed to take off, and the told me that i had no vacation days. So the next day i went to a different assistant manager and he told me i am able to take unpaid day's off as long as i tell them in advance. They said as long as the schedule for the following week was not made it was ok. So when i approached them both again, they told me the schedule was not made, but i could not take any days off even unpaid because of 4th of july.
If i decide to simply go on vacation, what could they do to me? One of the managers is now saying that the schedule was already made, even though previously all of the managers said it was not. I am always reliable for these people, and work hard, and they do not help me at all.

If I were a manager at your work, when you came back from vacation, I'd make damn sure you never worked more than 1 hour per week. |

One week is a little late to tell your boss that you want vacation, especially when i falls on a holiday. BUT, I would try asking them again with the information that you really work hard and are reliable for them all the time, if they would please reconsider (maybe go to your boss's boss). But if they say no, I would think long and hard about what's more important to you... a short vacation, or having a job and being able to pay your bills. And yes, if you don't get approved for vacation and don't show up to work, they can and probably will fire you. |
