Career help : Floristry ?

I'm 16 years old and have decided that I would like to pursue floristry as a career. I have done some work experience at a florist and it's something that I'm very passionate about.

I was wondering what subjects in particular should I lean towards for my final years at highschool, and if there are any florists out there who have any advice at all.

There are NVQ, BTEC and City & Guilds all offer courses in floristry. Many clubs and associations offer informal sessions on floral design and flower arranging. For more information contact the Society of Florists - the number will be on the internet. Good luck with your career.

Your academic background isn't too important in this industry vocational training and experience and passion for the job carries much more weight. So maybe something like art/design business studies - most of a florists work is running a business and psychology floristry is about flowers for people not just flowers
