Can someone help me work this out?

I am 19 years old and doing a modern apprenticeship but i have found out im entitled to 4.83 an hour. but i cant work out how mu i would get if i paid my tax and national insurance myself.

It isn't worth your while going self employer buddy - and modern apprenticeships get round the NMW if I remember correctly. Go and have a chat with your local Connexions, they should be able to help - I think the apprenticeship pays about £80 per week, so depending on how many hours you work the employer could be getting you cheap - its a catch 22, you do get a job with training, but paid less than Mr Average 19 year old employee. Stick with it and don't go self employed until you earning a decent wedge. |
