Can part time workers have the same amount of holidays as full time workers?

I think everyone gets the same amount of holidays (24) where I work, could this be right?? Is it up to the employer how many holidays everyone is entitled to, as long as they pay the minimum?

If full time workers get 24 days leave a year, someone who works for half a day every day gets 24 half days off. As they are not at work for the other half of those days anyway they end up being away for the same number of days as a full timer. But of course, they only get paid at part time rates for those days, so they aren't getting preferential treatment.

Yes, but it depends on the employer and how they work things out like this. I have a job where I and my supervisor split the holidays.

What country?

In the US, employers can choose the number of holidays. Part-time employees usually get a pro-rated number of holiday days off. If you get 24 HOLIDAYS (US definition, not UK) then you have the most generous employer in the world. The most generous US plans have about 13 paid holidays.

It depends on which country you are from as different country's have different rules.. if you are from GB there is a law on how many holidays you are allowed this is normally 20 and also bank holidays, so this would make 28. Some company's might ask you to work these but you would be entitled to these days off at a later date. Also holidays are worked out on a pro-rata system e.g if you only work 1 day a week you would have to work 30 days to get a day and a half off...but it you work 5 days a week you would get more off... this is the same for any worker be it agency or full time... at the end of the day... it should be written on your contract..but yes as long as they pay the minimum ( by law) its ok

As long as the employer meets the minimum statutory holiday entitlement then he gave give you as many extra days as he chooses to. Normally, part time workers get the same allowance as full time workers but on a pro-rata basis, but an employer can choose to give part timers whatever holidays he chooses as long as the minimum requirement is met.

Part time workers should be entitled to the same amount of holiday as full time as far as i know, the company i work for certainly does that. however of course if u work 4 x 4 hr shifts then yr 24 days holiday would be 24 of yr 4hr shifts so its relative to the hours u work.
