Can i wear a shirt and tie to an interview at walmart?

I realize that the ideal is like a button down shirt and khakis, but everything i have in that area is pretty wrinkled (and my parents arent home and im not too confident with an iron). also, i feel i look much better with my shirt and tie with black dress pants and shoes. if this is definately overkill, ill figure out how to iron, and go with khakis and a regular shirt (but if i go this route, i dont really have appropriate shoes- everything is either like beat up sneakers, or too-dressy shoes).

so can i go shirt and tie? if this is too dressy, i do have long-ish hair, and i can leave the top button undone with the tie, which i think takes away some of the over-the-top look. im a college age kid, and i really need this job. would being too well dressed hurt me? its not like im wearing a suit and jacket so i figure i cant be too well done, but im assuming this will just be for a cashier-type job, so clearly shirt and tie wont be necessary down the road... what do you guys think?

Yes you can wear a shirt and tie but dont tell em the story behind what your wearing because they dont want to hire a kid that depends on his mom to dress him or the yahoo answers community. If you do go with the shirt and tie then wear blue jeans so its not over kill with some nice dress shoes.

You can, but unless you are going for an executive position, you will be over dressed and they may consider you over qualified. that has been my experience.
