Hi..i work night shift and my boss keep comparing my production with dayshifts..which are not far off...every couple of months he keep on asking me to give more production...now i'm giving my best but he still asks for more..what can i do..my company is unionized..but he threatens me that if i go to union he will bring production comparison chart with dayshift to union...what can i do...i am giving my best and cannot do more..

You did not say what type of work you are doing, but it sounds like piece work. If so there is probably a set minimum that you have to do for your hourly rate. If you are making that you are within the guideline and cannot be fired for poor production. My approach would be to talk informally with a friendly union rep to determine that your production is acceptable. If your production is too low you may ask for advice on how to improve. If your production is acceptable then tell your boss that your are doing your best, and don't worry the union will back you up. If your boss is badgering and picking on just you for some reason, then you may have to be more forceful by telling him that you will go to the union with a harassment grievance. You pay union dues for a reason and should not be afraid if you are in the right. If you have a personal conflict with the boss, you may want to try to bid on another job out of his department.
