Best Summer Jobs for College Student?!?

Category: Other

Brett HBrett H

I attend the University of Arkansas as a Mechanical Engineering and International Relations undergraduate.

I have literally nothing to do this summer and am looking for a full-time summer job.

Previous work experiences include working at Target as a grocery sales floor team member/trainer for 2 years and as a pharmacy technician with Walgreen's for 1 year.

I'm kind of tired of retail jobs dealing with a constantly high volume of customers.

Any good suggestions for a well-payed and fun job?

Instead of looking for "fun" why don't you start networking? Get a job in your field. What do you expect to do with your degree when you graduate? Start looking at companies you might end up working for and see if they have any positions over the summer where you could work in your field.

This will look great on a resume (unlike Target!) and will get you some contacts in your field.

Your world is open and so is your future. As long as you don't have a criminal history, there is nothing you can't do.

type you up a resume, and list everything you can do and HAVE done (even the tiniest jobs) and make them sound as professional as possible.

When doing your application(s) Always kiss butt: example: why did you choose our company?

answer:" because since I was little, I have always liked going to the amusement park(s) and riding the roller coaster... I have always wanted to work for Six Flags, and I want to make it a better place for people to enjoy; I will be a great asset to this institution."

The employer wants someone who sounds like they always wanted that job, and that it is the best job in the world. And that you will try your best at any position you are given, and that you are genuine.

If you can do that, THERE IS NO JOB YOU CANNOT GET. I PROMISE.

PS... always say that you can and will work ANY HOURS. (you can always change it after you;'re hired. the trick is to get in the door first) also... Go in PERSON and ask to speak to the hiring manager. Be personal. The computer is a good tool, but believe it or not, a lot of employers STILL hire walk-ins. Be original.

Good Luck

Up up and Awaaaaaaaay!
