Should I continue to be miserable in a boring writing job - making around $20,000/year OR should I take out a loan for $10 - $12K and become an esthetician? I would value anyone's thoughts who have had to decide to take a jump like this, keep in mind I have bills c. $850 per month in rent and student loan payments (no other debt) a child entering private school and a husband who makes good money and would support anything I do...but the program is only 5 months...It seems like there is jobs out there and I have always wanted to do it.

On an annual basis an esthetician earns $23,340 on average.

Not much more than what you are making now.

How much will this school cost?

It will take you 3 1/2 years just to break even and get a return on your investment.

Hopefully the school will be at night, so you don't lose out on the income you are currently making.

Note: That is the most expensive school I've seen.

Even more than some best colleges.
