Bad feeling about new job? dont know what to do?

I am starting my new job and am very worried. I interviewed at a fast food place for a shift manager position. I've done that before and found it tolerable , enjoyable at times. But, now, 3 interviews in, I'm starting as crew. Supposedly I will move up in 3-6 months. I am not so sure about this, seeing as the man who runs the district hired me stating I'd get full time while the 1st interviewr, who actually works in the store, said more like 10. I hate to look a liar and back out but conflicting stories and such are worrying me. But in this economy I feel lucky to have a job, yet feel this is kind of a dead fish, and will soon smell. I'm not going to collapse finiacially if I don't work, but plan on paying off a loan and taking a college class or two with the money. I just hate going back on my word and not starting the job. What now?
