Background checks at G4S?

I did get offered a job or in the recruitment officers words "i am putting you forward for the job" at G4S security. It is about background checks they do or CRB which ever he did say this process can take 2 to 3 weeks but not to worry if you do not hear anything before this. But it has been 2 weeks and im a bit worried about this now as i know they havent contacted my references.

Is this normal for checks to take this long?

Yeah it can take a while. Also he said it can take 2 - 3 weeks, so i think you might be worrying over nothing. I know it can be stressful when applying for a job, but my advice would be to wait another week before you start worrying...

G4S are used by the Prison I work for to transport prisoners to Court and Back. They will do an Enhanced CRB check on you which can take many weeks. Mine took over a month. You will receive a copy of the report youself and they will send one to the employer. The time delay does not mean anything, it just depends on how busy the checking agency is.

All security companies now have to do an in depth background check on applicants, and then forward it to the SIA (Security Industry Authority) for them to check further.

It will take a while, I know of some of the lads I used to work with, where it took 4-6 weeks.

Incidentally, for later, if/when you get to apply for a licence, you can check on the application progress through the SIA site 'application tracker'. This too, will take some time.
