Any good suggestions for careers with a Masters in Mental Health Counseling?
I live in a smallish city so Im having problems finding a job as a counselor (graduated in Dec). I know all the ones that I could get that are more Bachelor's level jobs, so I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas of good jobs that pay decent I could get that are not really related to counseling but that would want someone with a Master's since it basically shows I am well educated and motivated.
Please no suggestions of mental health techs, screeners, etc. I'm aware of these, Thanks. Only serious answers please, I'm aware the economy is bad, dont need to be reminded.

You might want to think in terms of what you love doing. Are there any particular areas that really excite you or that you would like to explore. Your degree is valuable because you can use your insight into mental health to help organizations develop, train employees, help people interact more effectively and improve morale, motivation and performance. You may want to do an inventory of the skills you bring to the table and then match them up with career paths that peak your interest. Then, it's helpful to talk to people in the fields that you enjoy. The idea is to think expansively about how you can use your talents to benefit others across a wide range of fields. |
