Am I screwed? Job application asked "Are you bondable?" I checked "No", but I would've checked "Yes".?
Okay, so I filled out a job application, and I'm pretty sure that they would've hired me, but I messed up one question. On the application it said "Are you bondable?" I checked "No". For some stupid reason I though it had something to do with bail bonds, and no one like Dog the Bounty Hunter is after me so I figured I wasn't bondable. How bad did I mess this up? If I'm perfect for the job but I checked "No" will they even consider hiring me? Is there anything I can do now? I feel like such a tool, and I really need this job!

If the job requires handling money or requires a large amount of trust in handling sensitive information, you probably will NOT get hired. Some companies ask this routinely. Best bet is to contact the employer hiring office IMMEDIATELY and tell them you realize you made a mistake on your application, and ask if they will correct this for you. Next time you fill out such an application, ALWAYS ASK before you answer a question you do not fully understand. They will think better of you as a potential employee in that you do not assume what something means if you are not sure, but ask before you assume incorrectly. |

Very few job applications ask that question. They usually only ask it if they need to hire someone that they can get bonded. That leads me to believe that you are indeed screwed. I would say you are not perfect for the job if requires bonding and you don't even know what that means. If I were you, I would keep looking. |

Oh that sucks!!! Not sure if there is anything you can do about it other than you can go in/call them to rectify it. You didn't say for what job but if this position is not in high demand or of a really professional nature you might be able to have a second chance. I would go in/call though to see if there is anything that can be done.........the worse thing they could say is NO. Good luck. |

If they have filled the position your probably out of luck however if you know they have not hired yet call back to the place you applied to and tell them the truth that you did not understand the question. If they have already filled the job you may have just learned a valuable lesson on a job application. If you dont know exactly what they are asking you for ASK THEM what they are looking for in you answering the question.. Good luck. |
