A problem employee is now moving to another team, has stopped talking to me, shall i leave her alone?

I had put an employee on PIP. She was aggressive to me when I gave her some negative feedback on her work.

we had good rapport sometimes, and not so good at other times. On the last meeting for PIP, I got very strict with her and ended up suggesting the she should seek other alternatives. Also, she asked to be considered for promotion, and i suggested that i can not do it. She claims that she does more work than some senior programmers.

She was off sick from work for next 2 days. And, now since last 3 months she doesn't talk to me, and she has declined all 1-1s. She claims that she had to take time off work due to my mis-behaviour only.

I know that she is hard working, but, it's understandable that if you don't behave properly in a work place, then, you will be penalised.

She has now agreed the head of IT to move her into a new team where she will get to work on new technologies and will have a different manager.

I don't think that she good for the company as she's clearly unprofessional. But, now I have no control as IT head has decided to transfer her to a different team.

She will still continue to work under my team, as she will work on multiple technologies. She needs my support too, but, she doesn't seem to care.

Do you think I was wrong in all this?

Well its out of your hands now. If she's such a problem other people will realise and you wont be the only one. So leave it be.

Sometimes a change is good. Live and let live. You have no control and it she is still a problem employee you can say "told you so"

Sensitive ******. Can't take a bit of criticism and use it to make the work better.

Why did you make these people, God?

Sounds as if you have to "let go and let God." Maybe you and she just were not a good fit, and she'll thrive in her new group.

Or maybe she'll be just as much a malcontent there, and everyone will realize she's a nuisance.

Whatever happens, I think you should just leave her alone.

You don't explain what PIP is, or in what way she was unprofessional, but consider how you feel if you get negative feedback, and whether you could maybe have been a bit gentler. No-one likes to be criticised, and no-one is perfect - even you!

As to your question, yes, leave her alone and let her new team deal with her. She may work better in different circumstances, and she won't be your problem anyway.

Do you give negative feedback to the men too?

I had the same prob, men talking about football for the first half hour every morning, then I was told off for having a private conversation with another colleague on the phone but I was using my break time. Also men would stay on overtime but play table tennis for a couple of hours. They also shuffled papers about most of the day then wander round the office with a set in their hands. Consequently they then claimed there weren't enough hours in a day and had to do overtime. Oh yes I've seen it all, me working loyally/efficiently/honestly, then being told I'm not pulling my weight. I think men will always rule ok

Take a good honest look at yourself....oh and all the other staff, particularly the skivers...oh, I mean men
