My friend needs some counseling..can you guys help?

This guy has close to 15 years experience. He started doing channel management for a top auto company (7 years), then moved on to an industrial selling job (more of a key account management/sales administration job-2 years). He then moved to corporate training (as a trainer)which he did for three years. He quit training b'cos he found it a. monotonous and b. the schedules were not in his control. In the last 2 years he has been doing odd jobs in consulting, selling and teaching. He now wants to land a line job similar to the industrial selling job. What's the best strategy to follow? (Relevant info.-He's an MBA from a top school....just to add...but many times this has worked to his disadvantage) Can you suggest?

Are you saying that he's finding it hard to get back into sales?

It sounds as if he's been out of sales for five years, maybe longer if the administrative job didn't involve much selling.

I would think that employers are looking for more recent experience. Can he find a job, even part-time, that allows him to put recent experience on his resume? If he took a commission-based job, there would be very little risk to the employer.
